A way to show your love and support for our dearest Aija during her battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
It all began on Valentines day, a day meant for love, but instead there was a diagnosis that changed all of our lives. Aija was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer, that had also spread to the liver. Life was already difficult with Peter's diagnosis of male Breast Cancer in September. He had an operation to remove it and went through radiation until November. Then only a few months later Aija had her diagnosis. These two diagnosis's have changed many things in our lives, but one thing it did not was the hope and strength we have to get back to normal, healthy lives.
Both, Peter and Aija have been self employed for all their lives, meaning there is a higher insurance premium. They pay for their own insurance and they make it affordable by cutting benefits on the insurance and increasing the deductibles. After Peter's diagnosis there were troubles right away, with paying for the expenses, and because he could not work daily. Aija had to pick up extra hours at both her jobs to help pay for everything. To this day they are still paying for Peter's bills and now have the added expenses for Aija's bills. Peter has been working a couple different jobs to keep life normal at home because Aija has been out of work since the diagnosis. The youngest daughter is currently studying at UMass Dartmouth and still has plenty of loans and tuition to pay.
Many new costs have been added to our lives, making it more difficult to pay for everything. Unplanned expenses now include but are not limited to; prescription medication, doctor and hospital visits (parking), special diet, and lost income. The money raised by this fundraiser will go to all the medical bills, diet and hospital visits. This money will help us spend more time with our mother, sister, and friend to lessen the stress caused by money on our minds.
Aija was very involved with the Latvian society in Boston with the school, events and the camp, Piesaule. With your support she will be able to come back to the people she loves most and be involved once again. Thank you so much for all of your support and love.
PALDIES, PALDIES, PALDIES!
