This is Dakota's Cancer Fund. Funds raised will be used to help pay for Dakota's Surgery costs not covered by Care Credit or Pet Insurance.

A famous quote was once stated "Dogs are not our whole Life, but they make our Life whole. Dakota is not just a dog, but he has become an extension of our Family & he has undoubtedly made our lives Whole.

Dakota came into our lives in 2004 only 8 wks old, & showered our family, friends & even strangers with an overwhelming amount of tail wags, hugs, kisses & hello howls. Just ask Dakota for a hello & he'll howl the longest hello any dog has ever done, encompassing your whole heart in the biggest Akita greeting you have ever had!

Now 7 years old, Dakota is still an active lover of life, who enjoys running, chasing the cats, car rides, walks, & giving paw high 5's. But most of all he enjoys playing with his family which consists of my husband Shane & I & our other 2 dogs Enya & Kollie & our 2 cats Tiger & Majestic. But unfortunately, now he is fighting a battle which could be fatal to his life if not treated, so that he can hopefully return to playing around with his family soon.

On Friday September 16th, 2011 Shane & I discovered a lump on Dakota's chest. According to our Vet, he needed further evaluation from a Specialist as she assumed this lump might be cancer. Taken to the Oncologist, "Dakota was diagnosed with a rare condition that we see in larger breeds of dogs from time to time, but not common, called Fibrosarcoma.

After speaking with our Oncologist, we received heart breaking news. Dakota's cancer is aggressive and will spread if not treated quickly. Therefore, IMMEDIATE surgery to remove the lump is necessary!!!

Fibrosarcoma is a treatable & curable disease, when found & treated within an adequate time frame & can return a dog back to its normal quality of life. The most effective way to treat this rare form of Cancer is to remove all tumor's with surgery to stop further growth or spreading of the Cancer cells.

The longer Dakota goes without his surgery to remove the lump the more the cancer will spread making recovery harder.

As with any Medical procedures the cost of treatments are on the rise. In these difficult times, many families have been forced to give up or loose their beloved family pets due to the insurmountable costs for pet care. No family should have to make such a decision. And Shane & I refuse to give up or loose Dakota!!!

We are asking for your help & support as Dakota's surgery is pending on this fundraiser... Please consider making a small donation - any amount you can will help - so that our family can feel whole again with everyone healthy and happy.

We appreciate all your generous donations & Thank you very much!! God Bless!
