Help raise money for Eric LeGrand who is suffering paralysis from the neck down from a Rutger's Football game. God Bless.

Eric, 20 years old, was recently injured during a Rutger's Football game. He was taken to the hospital after suffering a bad neck injury during a game against Army on October 16, 2010. The next day rumor ran that Eric was pronounced paralyzed from the neck down. Please help alleviate the financial burden Eric and his family must face in such a difficult time.

Eric is from my town, Avenel, NJ which can be located in Woodbridge Township. He went to Avenel Middle, and soon moved on up to Colonia High School. He was a four year starter for Colonia's coach, Ben LaSala. He was also ranked the number 14 recruit in New Jersey. Eric was an amazing player who recieved a Division 1 scholarship and graduated Colonia High in June of 2008. He attends Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ and his freshman year he made his debut in the second game of the season. Since then, Eric has played 25 career games, and appeared in all 13 games in 2009. He had 33 tackles on the season, he was backup defensive tackle, he led the team with 13 tackles of kick off coverage. His teammates love him, and believe he is such a inspiration right now.

Hearing the news about Eric being paralyzed put many to tears, including myself. No one really wanted to believe the rumors, but they were soon the truth. The day of the game, Eric tackled an opposing player and landed on his back. He tried to lift his head, but nothing else was moving below him. He laid still for seven straight minutes as all types of medical personal who rushed to him the second he hit the ground. They had to take him out on a backboard and brought him to Hackensack Hospital, where he was been since. Doctors had to do an emergency surgery to stabilize his spinal cord. The next three days are the most crucial, because Eric's surgery wounds must heal so they can determine the true prognosis of his condition.

I am hearing that Eric is in very good spirits. Though it must have been extremely difficult for him to hear the news of his paralysis, it has been said that he is being very strong. With everything he is going through, he still finds it in him to thank people for suppporting or visiting him and he keeps that bright smile on. Eric is Avenel's hero and we are all hoping he can have a 100 percent recovery from all of this.

There is rumor that Eric was able to move his shoulder's and toes a bit which is beautiful to hear. Eric is a great kid, and so many people are giving him and his family support. I am hoping people from all walks of life can find it in them to donate money and keep him in their prayers.

Any donations made here will be going directly to Eric's family. It will go toward any type of medical expense, or just any type of expense in general that they may be struggling with. We all know him and his family have a very long journey ahead of them, and that this is only the beginning. Always smiling and making people laugh.
