My husband, Wayne, became ill this past year as a result of Hepatitis C. The illness has progressed to the point where he is no longer able to work. He does not have health insurance and the needs help with living expenses and medical bills.

This past year has been a time of major change in Wayne's life.  He was usually a very energetic person, but the disease of Hepatitis C has zapped his strength from him.  He is no longer able to work or care for the animals on our small farm.  This illness has made him extremely fatigued.  He needs approximately 12-14 hours of sleep each day, just to function normally.  Some days just taking a shower seems to wear him out.  As you can imagine the loss of his income has put the family in a financial crisis.  There is not only the problem of paying regular bills but Wayne also has no health insurance.

Wayne needs to have interferon treatments which, we are told, will cost $3000.00 a month.  He has applied for emergency assistance and his case is still pending.  I'm not sure how long this process takes.

Wayne tried for several months to continue generating income and it has just become too much for him.  This has caused a great deal of depression.  His last major task was selling everything related to raising calves, his passion.  He sold the animals, livestock trailer, the hay feeder, the feed & water troughs and other miscellaneous items.  He even, with the help of friends and family pulled up all the T-posts, rolled up the fence and barbed wire and sold it too.  This was painful for him, as he loved working with the baby calves.

There are also 2 beloved Chihuahuas living in the home, ChiChi and ChuChu.  Four years ago ChiChi was diagnosed with unexplained pleural effusion after his lung collapsed.  ChiChi underwent surgery in 2006, to insert a drain tube and port to have the fluid drained from his chest weekly.  On Christmas of 2009 ChuChu had a seizure and nearly died.  She went to the vet and we were told she has a heart murmur and her lungs were filling with fluid.  She was prescribed Lasix to help eliminate the fluid.  On December 30th we almost lost her again, this time we took her to an Animal Hospital where they started a more aggressive treatment on her.  She was in Congestive Heart Failure.  ChuChu is now on 4 different medications and seems to be responding well to them.  These doggies are our babies now that the children are all grown, there is no way we could allow them to suffer.

As you can imagine, between Wayne's medical expenses and now both Chihuahuas it has become a real struggle for our family to survive.  Wayne's main focus has been trying to pay down or pay off some debt.   I want to do this fundraiser for him so he can concentrate on getting well and stop worrying about bills and medical expenses.   Any monetary help will be such a blessing.  We are also open to any suggestions for where else to turn for help.  Thank you and bless you all.
