Heart & Lung For Oscar

♥ Our little Oscar has become an Angel. He passed away this morning, June 18, 2012.

All donations will go towards the transportation of his body from Mexico City to Guatemala, funeral cost, and to pay off his medical expenses.

♥ Oscar Andre Salguero Moscoso is a 12-year-old boy who was born in Guatemala. He was born to his loving parents with a grave and devastating disease they have been battling since Oscar was 25 days old. Oscar was born with severe dilated cardiomyopathy. His parents have been struggling to keep their son alive with treatments, surgeries, and all the medical attention possible to help Oscar.
Dilated cardiomyopathy is a condition that leaves the heart debilitated and working at a low rate due to a large variety of heart diseases attacking the heart. This disease prevents blood from flowing through to the rest of his body. Severe dilated cardiomyopathy can be a fatal disease that could rip Oscar from his family’s loving hands. Currently, with a severe case of dilated cardiomyopathy, Oscar’s heart works at a dangerously low %13 of its normal functional capacity. After mostly being treated in his home country of Guatemala, Oscar has been given one option that can save his life: a heart transplant.
In early May, Oscar was moved to the Ignacio Chavez National Institute of Cardiology in Mexico, where he has undergone a battery of tests like electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, and blood tests. Unfortunately, his parents have reached a dire monetary situation as they have exhausted their savings trying to save their son. A few days ago, Oscar was sent back to Guatemala with enough medication to keep his heart pumping for a month. Unfortunately, he fell ill again and was returned to Mexico, where tonight he has gone into cardiac arrest and is fighting for his life.
The hospitals in Mexico are not able to do the heart transplant, he has to be sent to the United States, but the United States is asking for $500,000 up front. We are currently raising awareness to Oscar’s struggle with a grassroots campaign on Facebook and charity events where all profit goes solely toward Oscar’s family to help with medical costs. If there is any way you are able to help give this young man a second chance at life, it would be greatly appreciated!
