Support your Wyoming Cowboys/Cowgirls on their mission trip to Haiti to provide a sports camp for the local children.

On the morning of September 6, 2010, University of Wyoming football freshman Reuben Narcisse was killed in a car accident between Ft. Collins and Laramie. Prior to his tragic death, Reuben looked tragedy in the face as he helped his family minister to earthquake survivors in Haiti. In honor of Reuben's life and passion for reaching out to the Haitian people, 25 student athletes, coaches and athlete alumni will travel to Port Au Prince, Haiti on May 7-13th. The purpose of our trip is twofold:

1) To work with Lyonel Narcisse's (Reuben's father's) ministry, Haiti Premiere Eglise de Christien, to provide a sports camp experience to a very impoverished area where kids have little, if any, opportunities for not only a sports camp, but more importantly a distraction from the tragedy and devastation they experienced only two years ago. We will put on football and volleyball camps, and train up local club soccer coaches who are eager to learn about and implement American football and volleyball, so that they can continue to play and grow in their sports skills long after we leave. This will be an opportunity to utilize sports to encourage the youth and provide opportunities for them to learn valuable life lessons that are learned through participating in organized sports. We believe these camps will help minister to the children emotionally who are constantly reminded of loss and destruction. This will also be a platform to meet a spiritual need, as many members of our team will have the opportunity to share the hope and restoration available through Jesus Christ.
We will also be available to assist with various needs in the community, providing manual assistance to help rebuild facilities, or other current projects they have going on.

2) We will go to Haiti with humility and a willingness to serve. We tend to look at people in less developed countries as less fortunate. While this may be true in some way, it is certainly not in others. We will be inspired by their relationships with one another, by their rich cultural heritage, by their joy in simplicity, among other things. We seek to learn and grow through this experience so that we will be changed as we come back.

Our team consists of 25 individuals ranging from UW volleyball girls, soccer and football players. Coach Christensen and a select group of individuals to lead this team including past players of the UW football team. There are no more spots available to go on the trip, but we value your prayer support, and if you would like to be involved/support this trip in another way, please contact Aaron Frude: afrude@fca.org (307) 760-1391 also, click the link provided on the left to purchase a Wyoming Haiti T-shirt from Brown 'n Gold which also supports this trip.
