This is Operation Eyeball! Funds raised will be used to help Chantz Fowler receive surgery and treatment for a rare eye disease.

In late February, 2010, Chantz began having vision problems and severe headaches. After seeing multiple doctors, he was finally referred to the doctors at Duke University who discovered his problems stemmed from a rare eye disease which caused him to lose over 50% of his vision in his right eye. They also found several tumors which led to 18 different surgeries between August 2010 and April 2012.

During this time, Chantz was unable to go outside during the daylight hours as he experienced intense pain when light reached his eyes. He was heavily medicated and unable to work, read, watch TV, attend church or any family outing as not only sunlight, but any bright light was unbearable. Lisa, Chantz's wife and an elementary school guidance counselor, became the sole bread winner for the family. For two years, she was the only one working, and when she came home, she had to care for Chantz. Her paychecks didn't come close to satisfying their obligations and every month she was the one forced to deal with every worry and problem.

Over the last several months, everyone believed that Chantz was on the mend. His vision was improving and he was on the verge of being released by his physicians and excited about being able to get back to work. Then, the doctors discovered additional tumors. One is malignant and will require further surgeries and medications. At then end of this month, the doctors would like to begin the process of removing these tumors. The projected cost for everything that will have to be done is $25,000.

After struggling to pay for Chantz's previous surgeries and treatments as well as a family's day to day expenses on only Lisa's income, they have exhausted all the financial means available to them. Without the generosity of close family members and friends, they would not have made it as far as they have. Unfortunately, those who have helped have exhausted their abilitiy to help at the same level as well.

Someone told us about Giveforward.com and encouraged us to check it out. So we did, and here we are! We want to help Chantz and Lisa raise the money for these additional surgeries and treatments. If you feel led to help, or if you would pray for him and his family, it would be greatly appreciated. God Bless You.
