Christopher Bales Road to Recovery
Please help us raise money for Christoper Bales medical expenses. He was recently involved in a near-fatal motorcycle accident.
Chances are that if you’ve ever had dinner at Café Stella in Silver Lake, or Nic’s In Beverly Hills, you met Chris Bales, or at least enjoyed his skillful cooking.
As a chef & in life, Chris always wants to please those around him. Often, Chris would venture into the dining room to personally ask the patrons if they were enjoying their food; not because he was looking for external validation, but because he wanted to make sure every guests’ dinner was perfect. If it wasn’t, he would see that it was made so.
Besides his love for cooking, Chris is very passionate about outdoor activities, especially riding his motorcycle.
Sadly, on Sunday, June 17th, Chris’ passion for riding took an ugly turn when he was involved in a near-fatal accident. Details are unclear on how it happened, and whether or not there was a hit-and-run involved, but the results are the same.
Currently, Chris is at the USC Medical Center, where he is in a medically induced coma, having suffered severe chest injuries, including a collapsed lung, and a tear in his spinal cord, that will more than likely result in him never walking again.
Chris’ path to recovery is long, and as his body heals, it is important that his spirits are kept strong, in adjusting to his new way of life.
One of the critical things in ensuring Chris’ positive rehabilitation, is giving him his mobility back, as he greatly values his freedom and independence; never wanting to be a burden on those around him. Although he will likely be confined to a wheelchair, it does not mean that he cannot return to a relatively normal way of life.
With your generous contributions, we plan to purchase Chris a van, outfitted with hand controls and made wheelchair accessible, to be ready for him the day he’s released from the hospital.
The surplus will be deposited into a fund to cover the cost of physical therapy, as well as other medical expenses Chris will incur.
Thank You Thank You for your generous contributions to helping Chris' path to recovery.
