We encourage donations of all sizes to help keep this beloved cat alive. With treatment, he may be with us for years to come.

Syntax is a 10-year-old perfect gentleman suffering from renal disease and chronic kidney failure. On Sept. 9, 2011, he was diagnosed with 75% loss of kidney function, leading to dangerously high levels of phosphorous in his system and other complications. Without treatment, he would die within 4-6 weeks. But with treatment, he may be with us for years to come. We are raising money to help offset the costs of (a) an emergency procedure that saved his life; and (b) the new monthly costs of keeping his toxins low and managing his poor, weakened little kidneys. Your donation of $5, $10, or $20 will make a significant difference. Syntax has lived as a symbol of hope ever since he survived a historic building fire in Washington, DC. He is mentioned at the end of this story in the Washington Post. After the fire, a neighbor declared Syntax to be a symbol of hope. The financial strain of being a student makes it difficult to keep Syntax alive, but being separated from him makes it even harder! As graduate students in another country, we have strict labor regulations preventing us from earning extra money to fund Syntax's medical expenses. Without your help, we cannot afford treatment. I hope that this website will marshall our collective resources across the globe, and help give something back to this awesome little guy who has given us so much. Help Save Syntax's Kidneys!
