The family of Susan Jayubo are raising funds to help her recover from a brain stroke, for future surgeries and support for her daughter.

On September 27, 2012, Susan Jayubo suffered a ruptured aneurysm while on a mini-vacation in Las Vegas. She was awakened that morning by an explosive headache and was rushed to the ER at the nearest hospital.

What the neurosurgeon and radiologist discovered was shocking and completely unexpected -- a cerebral arteriovenous malformation (AVM), an abnormal connection between the arteries and veins in the brain that usually forms before birth.

The surgeries were serious; the radiologist coiled two of the four aneurysms and drained the brain hemorrhage. She was in a coma for an extended period fighting for her life. The extent of Susan's damages are still unknown and have yet to be determined.

After a month in ICU, Susan is now recovering at her sister's home. Susan is being cared for 24/7 by her two sisters and mother, and is re-learning basic movements, such as stretching her limbs and walking with assistance.

In the near future, Susan will require additional surgeries to treat the AVM and another aneurysm.  She faces a lengthy recovery period and needs 24/7 care. Insurance is helping with some of the costs, but her financial burden is increasing.  Susan's family is seeking donations to help pay for medical bills, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, modify her home to accommodate her limitations (installing ramps, walking bars, converting the downstairs living room to her bedroom), and ongoing care for herself and her 13-year-old daughter.

Susan graduated from Chico State University in 1986 receiving a B.S. in Business Administration. She worked at the University Foundation to support herself through college. Her first job was at Hitachi America Ltd in San Bruno. In 1987, Susan started Levi Strauss as a Secretary in Womenswear. For the past 25 years, Susan has had a successful career with Levi Strauss & Company.  During her career she has held various positions in Product Management and Sourcing. Her most current position was in Global Sourcing. The company's long-term disability is helping to defray some of the costs but she'll require additional financial assistance.

Susan is a single mother of two children, 23-year-old son, Justin and 13-year-old daughter, Cameron Jayne.  Her children are her world and only wants the very best for them.  Naturally, her children are having difficulty adjusting to their mother's medical condition and, in particular, her daughter is having to grow up faster than she should. Every year, Susan enjoyed taking her children to Maui and Comic-Con in San Diego.

Never missing a game, Susan is a dedicated fan of the San Francisco Giants, 49ers and the Sacramento Kings. She regularly attended games with her children rooting for their favorite team.
