Patrick’s Journey

"Patrick was diagnosed with grade 4  medulloblastoma (brain tumor) on April 27th 2012 at the age of two. After having headaches and vomiting we pushed local doctors to give Patrick a ct scan feeling something was wrong, even after being told that he was perfectly healthy. Our whole life's changed with a call from the doctor. Over the next two hours we packed our belongings, two children, and headed to Denver Children's Hospital in Aurora, leaving our life that once was in Cheyenne to fight for Patrick’s life. Patrick had a brain tumor and much fluid putting pressure on his brain. The tumor was removed on may 9th about a week after we had been standing on pins and needles about what was going to happen to our baby as he lay in the hospital bed in so much pain. Not knowing what to come after surgery. This was only the beginning to Patrick’s Journey and battle with Cancer. This is a day that for the rest of my life I will remember.  To come, were three low dose chemotherapy treatments, being very sick, losing weight, losing hair, along with constantly being admitted into the hospital. Not to mention control over his whole life of being a normal kid. Now we tackle three high dose chemotherapy treatments as we continue to stay in Aurora away from home, family and friends. We are proud to say that our son, even though while staring cancer is the face, has been so strong and has become our hero. Within the next three months we will be proud to say that our two year old will be a cancer survivor." But the journey does not stop there, over the next ten years of Patrick’s life he will have to continually get MRI’s to make sure the cancer has not returned and he can say he won his battle.

We left our home in Cheyenne, along with my job, animals, family and friends to fight for Patrick’s life in Denver. Donations will go to medical bills that are not covered by insurance, groceries, diapers and to allow us to have a foundation to start with when we return home. Also to give Patrick a 3rd birthday that is much deserved after being so strong and brave. Please follow Patrick Journey on Facebook at
