STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM

My name is Kelcey Nichols, and I am a Sophomore Social Work Major at Saint Louis University (SLU) in St. Louis, MO. I was recently accepted to participate as a member of the SLU study abroad program to Bond University in Australia for the spring of 2011.

Bond University is a liberal arts college located in Gold Coast, Australia. While at the University I will take classes to fulfill my major as well as classes in Australian History and Politics.

I am currently seeking financial sponsors to help me with my airfare for the trip, and hope I can count on your support. This trip will give me a personal experience of dealing with a completely foreign culture that will benefit me in the field as a Social Worker. Social Workers often come into contact with people who are different than them and it is important to know how to maintain professionalism in those situations. This opportunity will allow me to view the United States from the outside-in, while also showing me how other countries have progressed when it comes to taking care of those in need.

The tuition for the semester is $19,000 which includes all the costs for the semester except for my plane ticket. The plane ticket costs around $2,500 and my visa costs around $530. I am asking contributors to each donate to help me reach my goal. Is it possible for you to assist me by making a contribution? I already have $300 towards this goal. Any amount would be appreciated.

I plan to use my experiences to better prepare myself for life as a social worker. I will keep a journal while I am gone and will gladly present my trip to contributors upon my return.

Please feel free to contact me at 515-299-0794 or by email at knicho13@slu.edu if you need more information. Your generous contribution would enable me to share in this wonderful opportunity. Thank you in advance for your consideration and support.

Sincerely yours,

Kelcey Nichols
