I have been chosen to attend the Greenpeace Semester in Washington D.C. for the summer 2011, but I cannot get there without your help!

Please visit my blog or Twitter for even more updates! Dear friends and family, This summer I have the exciting opportunity to be a part of the Greenpeace Semester. This program is an advanced training course for college students interested in taking an active part in environmental activism. As you may know, I am very passionate about the environment. Only a small number (10-15) students are chosen for this term and honestly, it's an opportunity I can't afford to miss. The program includes tons of opportunities for me to learn how to work on grassroots campaigns that will effect real change for the environment. I'll take part in over 50 workshops on everything from how to work with the media, to how to lobby decision-makers, and even learn how to motivate my peers to take action. During the summer session, we'll get a chance to learn about all the issues Greenpeace addresses worldwide. My class will also get an opportunity of a lifetime to work on front lines of these issues around the country. We'll be traveling for 1-2 weeks during the semester to meet and support local organizers in their fight to protect the earth. In the past, classes have gotten a chance to organize fellow students to march in Washington D.C. against the Capitol Coal plant, support communities fighting against an unsafe nuclear power plant in Vermont, and help out organizing the largest day of action for the climate in history. Working to protect the environment is something I have been interested in for a long time, and I hope that this semester I will begin to learn how to address some environmental problems that affect all of us. As amazing as this experience is, it won't be possible without your support. I'm reaching out for your help in raising the tuition and cost of living in Washington D.C. for this amazing opportunity. I plan on coming back to the community with the skills I've learned to bring fight for a sustainable future home. With your help, this could become a reality. I'm asking for any donations you can afford. Every penny counts and I would appreciate anything that can be done to help me reach my goal. If you are not comfortable with donating through this website, please e-mail me for alternatives!
