The family and friends of Robert Shannon are uniting to raise money to help with his battle against colon cancer. Please show your support!
Most of you are probably aware that I was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer that metastasized to my lung last year. I underwent surgery to remove the tumor in March of 2010 and embarked on a regimen of chemotherapy over the last year. All signs were that the chemo was working until an issue came up with my insurance and the chemotherapy stopped. I have just recently had my insurance reinstated. However, during the 5 months that the treatments stopped, the cancer has spread to my brain. I'm about to start radiation next week to hopefully remove the 3 lesions in my brain. A new chemotherapy regimen will follow immediately after.
Unfortunately, I'm not able to work during treatments and the high cost of medical treatment, plus alternative treatment, has been detrimental even though I now have health insurance. I currently have over $200k in medical bills and those totals will only escalate during this fight. The diagnosis is stressful enough and I don't want to worry over petty finances when I really need to focus on healing. If we all pitch in what we can, together we can make a huge difference in my recovery and day to day life right now. I want to have the best treatment possible. I'm doing everything I possibly can to beat this, but right now we need your help. Please help me and my family in our time of need
