Please help offset the financial demands that have been placed on the Rye Family, as their 5 year old daughter Maya battles Leukemia.

Hi, my name is Sherri Hart.  I have created this page to support our good friends Tim, Valerie, Maya and Max Rye.  The Rye family is in need of prayers, support and financial assistance as their beautiful little girl lays in a hospital bed waging the fight of her life.

Maya, as we all know, is a rather precocious, bright, energetic five year old who loves school, her friends and doing art projects. All of that changed on March 16, 2015, the day after her 5th birthday, when she was admitted to the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital with facial swelling and shortness of breath. Since arriving at the hospital Maya has been incredibly brave.  She has undergone a lot of poking and prodding as a team of doctors have worked to determine exactly what was making her sick and how best to attack it.  She has had a chest tube inserted into her chest to drain fluid that had been building around her collapsing lung and she has undergone steroid treatments to assist in decreasing the size of a large mass located in the upper quadrant of her chest cavity.  Once her lungs were stabilized Maya was able to undergo a spinal tap and a bone marrow biopsy, which enabled the  doctors to determine the underlying cause of Maya’s symptoms.  The diagnosis: T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Doctors have advised that the road to recovery will be a very, very long process.  They estimate Maya will spend at least one month in the hospital as she begins her Chemo treatments, followed by 2.5 to 3 years of bi-weekly outpatient treatments.  Maya is still an extremely sick little girl so your continued prayers and support are needed.

Knowing how much you care about Maya, we would like to give you the opportunity to show your love and support through financial giving.  This will be a difficult emotional and physical battle for Valerie and Tim as well.  Let us try to help alleviate some of the financial burden by creating a fund to help with Maya’s medical bills.

The long road to a full recovery is only just beginning...

You can keep up-to-date on Maya’s progress here -  You will need to create an account first.
