This fundraiser is for Stephanie who was recently diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis. She is uninsured and in need of financial donations.

She was recently diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis. Psoriatic Arthritis is an inflammation of joints and surrounding ligaments and tendons. Psoriatic Arthritis is an Autoimmune Disease, meaning the cells and antibodies of the immune system are misdirected against ones own tissues. Rarely a person can have Psoriatic Arthritis without even having obvious Psoriasis. She has severe psoriasis skin breakouts on her face, hands, arms, legs and stomach.

In September 2009 she was taken to the hospital by ambulance. She had become weak her skin was broken out and she could barely walk. She was admitted to the hospital for 7 days. The attending doctor released her she expressed concern because she was still barely able to walk and only walk in pain only with the assistance of a walker. The doctors told her that she needed follow-up care by a Rheumatologist a Dermatologist and physician follow-up care and physical therapy and medications.

She has not had any follow-up care since her release from the hospital. She lives in a second floor apartrment with steep concret stairs. She can barley walk and she can only walk with the assistance of a walker. She is very scared of the stairs.

She has over $31,000 in hospital bills of which she does not have the financial means to pay. She is suffering right now both physically and emotionally. No one in this country should have to suffer due to the fact that they are uninsured.

The donations will be used to help her pay her hospital bills, and to help her get follow-up care by a Rheumatologist, Physical Therapist, Dermatologist and physican follow-up visits. Donations will also be used for her medications, and the purchase of a motorized wheelchair and a craftmatic adjustable bed. She would also use a portion of the donations to move into a first floor apartment or an apartment with an elevator which would allow her to get safely back and forth to doctors offices. In additon to the fact that it would be a safer place to live in case of a fire or an emergency.

She would greatly appreciate each and every donation that is received as each donation could change the direction of her current physical condition that she so struggling with each and every minute of the day.

Each and everyday she suffers in physical and emotional pain. She was hospitalized for 7 days in September 2009. She was not well enough to be released, it is her belief that regardless of the fact that she could barely walk, without any effort or attempt to give her any physical therapy, She was released because she is an american citizen who is uninsured, and the hospital was not going to risk any additional financial loss, so they pushed her out the door, knowing that she needed further treatment.  This is how you are treated when you are uninsured in America.

Each and everyday she cries because she is in pain. She cries because she can barley walk. She cries because as she just tries and lay in the bed and sleep her legs get stiff and numb from her tendons and joints swelling in her legs and feet due to Psoriatic Arthritis.

She is praying for help.  I know that Psoriatic Arthritis is a disease that many people do not know about. I encourage you to research this condition. This condition with her lack of healthcare and the lack of financially getting the healthcare she needs, all that is awaiting her is a wheelchair for the rest of her life.

All she wants is to just be able to walk again! She has learned such an important lesson a life defining lesson, never take for granted that its a given that your ability to walk is a given. She was active, she played sports, basketball softball and was active all her life and in an instance she can Barely walk!

People, human beings American Citizens of which she is suffering due to the lack of financial acess to Healthcare, and she knows that she is just one of Millions in the wealthiest country in the world. Politics aside people are suffering, people are dying! No one who lives in the wealthiest country in the world should  suffer and die because they can not get the proper healthcare that is needed to save their lives!

Stephanie needs your help before it is to late for her to get the chance to recover.

Recently Pro Golfer Phil Mickelson was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis, the same potentially debilitating joint condition that Stephanie has that left him also unable to walk, just days before he was to play in the U.S. Open. Unlike Stephanie because of Phil Mickelson's sucess he has the financial ability to pay for his healthcare and the treatment of his Psoriatic Arthritis.

Just like Stephanie, apparently Phil Mickelson condition just strickened him out of the blue. He is very lucky and blessed to have the means to get the proper healthcare to enable him to walk and to continue his career. I am hoping that Phil Mickelson will become an advocate for people who have Psoriatic Arthritis, because of his status as a Pro golfer he has the ability to tell his story and help others understand this debilitating skin and joint condition.

Since being diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis without the financial means to get the proper care, I have not been able to leave my second floor apartment. I cannot walk down the stairs. I just want my independence back. I just want to be able to go outside again and take a walk in the park, watch the sunset, watch the birds fly, watch the children play, watch the dogs and the cats run and play. So many things we take for granted as we live our everyday lives.

I just want the chance to be able to live and thrive and be able to walk again independently. I just want a chance of getting my life back before it is too late.

I have been stuck in my apartment for a year now. I am confined to my bedroom 24 hours a day, because I can barely walk or stand. It is a struggle to walk the short distance to and from the bathroom, and I can only walk with the assistance of a walker.

I am ashamed and embarrassed to say that I have not been able to take a shower or a bath in over a year, due to my mobility problems. I cannot stand in the shower and the shower is inside of the bathtub of which I would have to step inside and stand in. Due to my condition I am unable to do it. So I sit down and take sponge baths twice a day, many times breaking down and crying because I just want to be able to take a warm relaxing shower again.

Any and all donations would be so greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Stephanie
