Tater Tot has a faulty heart valve. Without surgery he will die of congestive heart failure. We want to give him a chance to grow up.

On the outside Tater Tot looks like every other adorable puppy. But on the inside, his little heart is failing. Without surgery to fix his faulty valve, his precious life will be short.

Tater was born May 26, 2010 in southern Illinois. His breeder discarded him when he was 8 weeks old and barely weaned because he had a heart murmur. At the request of Greater Chicago Cavalier Rescue, a non-profit organization, a Board certified veterinary cardiologist examined Tater. He diagnosed pulmonic stenosis, a narrowing of the pulmonic valve that restricts blood flow causing his heart to overwork.

GCCR is asking for your help to raise $3,000 to pay for the surgery that will give Tater a chance to grow up. The procedure has a good success rate, is minimally invasive, and is relatively low risk. Once Tater’s faulty valve is opened, his heart will work normally and he’ll be able to run and play and, most importantly, have the chance to live a long and healthy life.

Tater is tentatively scheduled for surgery the week of November 1st. The longer he waits for his surgery, the closer he comes to succumbing to congestive heart failure. Please help GCCR help Tater Tot.
