The Liver Shunt Fund for Jazmin Please show your support!

Jazmin was diagnosed with a liver shunt when she was just a year old. A liver shunt, or portosystemic shunting (PSS), is a condition that causes blood from the intestines to flow around the liver, not through it. In other words, dogs with canine liver shunt has blood bypassing the liver. This results in toxins such as ammonia not being able to be metabolized or removed from the blood circulation.
We have endured many vet visits (causing a huge financial burden on my family) because of the following typical symptoms: lethargy, disorientation, head pressing, drooling and she has experienced alot of seizures. At one visit to the vet, the vet suggested that she be put to sleep...I cried like a baby and of course said no. I was so scared of losing my love but since I had seen her this way before I knew there had to be a way to fix this. After she was spayed she had a near death experience, after she lost to much blood had to have a transfusion. The Vet prescribed lactulose (stool softner) and low protein diet and she is the closest to being normal as she can be with these medications although they are only a temporary fix. Without the required surgery to repair her liver shunt, the vet gave her a life expectancy of 2-3 years and we are already coming up on the second year.
To any of you animal lovers, you know they are more than just pets - they are a part of the family. Please assist us in helping to heal Jazmin. Thank you for taking the time to read Jazmin's story. Any contributions will be greatly appreciated.
