The Family of Joe Munson is asking for help to raise money to alleviate some of the financial burden of his growing medical expenses.

In August of 2010, Joe Munson was diagnosed with lung cancer. Other than losing a little bit of weight and some bad headaches Joe was having no symptoms at all. His wife talked him into going to the doctors to see if maybe he was having migranes. The doctor sent him for some tests and a few days later they were told the horrible news that he had lung cancer. The doctors said that it was unusual for a man of 45 to get lung cancer but it was found early so he had a very good chance to live.

Within two weeks, Joe was in surgery having a portion of his upper and lower lung on the left side removed. Joe then had to go through 5 months of chemotherapy. He had to go for scans of his lungs every three months to make sure none of the cancer came back. He went through two good scans. On July 31 2011 Joe collapsed with a seizure. We were then told that the cancer has spread to his brain. Joe then went for all over head radiation and stereo-tactical surgery. Again after a couple more scans to make sure nothing else spread we were told the devastating news that the cancer has now spread to his lung, liver. and spine and there is nothing else they can do except some more chemotherapy to extend his life a little longer. They gave him up to one year to live with the chemotherapy and only months if he decided not to do the chemo.

Watching someone you love go through something so devastating is the hardest thing anyone would have to go through. Everyday having to watch the person you love deal with the same things over and over. Pain, nausea, fatigue, and just feeling like your body is no longer yours and no longer cooperates with you. One of the hardest things is the not knowing what comes next or when our journey together may end.

However, we remain hopeful that he will beat the odds, and grateful for each day that God has given us with him. There are no words to express what a good man Joe is. He has taken to this fight like he does everything, with love, compassion, and strength. He is the kind of man who always thinks of others, even as he battles this devastating disease.

This 2.5 year battle has drained their family both mentally and physically. Every dollar raised will go to helping pay for Joe's doctor visits, hospital bills, and the cost of his many medications. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Every dollar helps!
