The Ethic Project is a Chicago-Based tax exempt 501(c)3 designed to empower individuals to \"be the change\" that they wish to see in the world. Within all of us is the potential to move mountains, create change, inspire others, and to create a bette
Hidden within today’s youth is untold potential as well as answers to some of our most troubling issues. The Ethic Project is one way of tapping into that potential and empowering youth to create brighter futures for themselves and their communities
The Ethic Project is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization that offers programming that harnesses the passion and justice-oriented mindset of adolescents into project-focused activities, centered around the concerns of these students. We work to empower students to understand that they can make a positive impact on the world around them and to give them the skills to do so. Students in low-income areas are often the last to access meaningful social justice curricula. Even rarer is the conveyance of the message, that “you can be the change you wish to see in the world.” By not teaching these skills, we perpetuate a cycle of dependence and disempowerment in the communities that need to be empowered the most.
We are working, specifically, to fund after school activities at Fenger High School to inspire peace and hope.
The goal of our after school program is for students to:
• Understand the complex nature of the problems facing their generation
• Develop empathy and compassion for others
• Develop skills to communicate these issues to others in the community and the world
• Work creatively to develop new, insightful ways of addressing their chosen issues
• Understand the power that they posses as potential problem solvers, activists, and organizers
• Offer students compensation for their work, giving them a positive alternative to other potentially dangerous and negative ways of spending time and making money.
These after-school activities seek to combat negative social pressures on today's youth by reframing participants as victors over these issues rather than victims The Ethic Project recognizes dire need for the students to have tangible work and goals related to making their community a better place. The skill set for addressing the most pressing of our world’s problems is, unfortunately, not one that students gain during their school careers. It is a skill set, however, that empowers them in ways they never dreamed possible, with positive effects that resonate throughout the school, family, community, and global community.

Hugs for Ethic Project.
