Strides of Pride is my way of honoring our military members and civil servants who have made the choice to dedicate their lives to the service of America. I run in marathons, ultramarathons, and other running events across the country carrying the American flag.

 

The comments and support that I receive from spouses, along with family members and friends of our soldiers keeps me going. I run a marathon or ultramarathon nearly every weekend of the year in honor of a fallen soldier, and dedicate that race to his/her family.

 

In 2011, I will be running across America to honor the 10th anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 attacks. There were over 3000 victims who lost their lives on that day, so I will dedicate at least one mile of this 3000+ mile journey to each of the victims.

 

My run will begin June 2011 at the pier in Oceanside, California and take me across America to the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, then on to the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and finishing in New York City at the World Trade Center Memorial on September 11th, 2011.

 

My goal for the run across America is to never let anyone forget the events of September 11th, 2001 and raise $25,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project.  As you can imagine, literally living on the road for 15 weeks will require that I raise enough funds to support myself, and a small crew to help with the run. Expenses such as renting a van and RV, fuel, food, and even water will add up quickly. I'm perfectly fine with sleeping on the ground, but my concern is for the comfort of the crew members who will make this run happen. I am asking for your help in getting sponsorship and raising enough funds to make this run a reality.
