Cartier is our 6yr old Poodle. This past August she was diagnosed with Diabetes and Cataracts in both eyes. Shortly before Christmas/Chaunukkah we noticed that her vision was dimming. We took her to our vet Dr. Landoch who referred us to Dr. Sisler at Eyecare for Animals in Wheeling, Il. we went through the first tests okay but this past Monday was the Ultrasound and other tests. Monday's test results showed that her Retinas are becoming detached. Since this is happening the cost of the surgery has doubled nearly tripled. Cartier's still has quality of life but it has slowed down and she seems more cautious in unfamiliar places including her own front yard, her grandma's house and her groomer. not to mention trying to get on and off of the couch or getting into her pen when we have to go to work. She used to watch Meercat Manor on Animal Planet or watch the world go by while riding in the car. My partner and I want to give her the best quality of life she can but the cost of the surgery is out of our range. The reason we are trying this route is because there are a lot of other animals in similar situtations that animal help groups could be helping.
