Shannon passed away peacefully in her sleep on 3/10. The suffering she experienced for the last several months is over and she can rest in peace.

Shannon was diagnosed with brain cancer just after christmas. Because of all of the concerns that go along with a very sick child, we wanted to somehow ease Mike and Saeko's burdens. Shannon was admitted to LPCH on 12/28 and has only recently moved out to a regular room. Staying in the PICU comes with staggering costs (simply unreal). Although they have insurance, the yearly 'out of pocket cost' was doubled because she was admitted at the end of 2011 and then has since stayed into 2012.

Mike (Ron) is currently on Family Leave and receiving some compensation, however this will only last for 6 weeks. After that he will be on a leave of absence from his company. During the leave of absence he will not be paid and will still need to cover the cost of medical treatments, insurance, etc. For these reasons we're asking for your help. If we all contribute just a little bit, it would help them tremendously. We understand the times and that people / families may be financially stretched already, so please, please do not feel obligated. Some people have asked to help in some manner and this would certainly relieve some burden.
