This is the Running for Cyndy Fund. All proceeds will be given directly to Cyndy in support of her battle against breast cancer.

The past year has been rough for Cyndy G. She lost her job in October 2010. She lost her home to foreclosure in August 2011. Then on September 6, 2011 the unthinkable happened-and she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

If the weight of the diagnosis wasn't enough, her financial situation is crushing. Cyndy does carry her own health insurance, but since she is out of work, she chose a modest health care plan she could afford. In her case, a cheaper monthly premium meant a $10,000 deductible. And even when the deductible is met, the insurance will cover only 60% of the medical bills. The treatment recommended by her doctors, surgeries and radiation, will likely total upwards of $75,000. Given the coverage, her obligation will total approximately $36,000. That's a pretty hefty bill. In the past, Cyndy would have also been eligible for state health care coverage. Unfortunately, as of July 2011, Arizona's AHCCCS program doesn't cover people like Cyndy. She's single, under 65 and has no dependents. Cyndy simply slipped through the cracks.

On November 6th, 2011 I'm running a 13.1 mile race here in the valley. It's a Woman's Half Marathon, a Race for the Cure. This is a very important run for me, since it's the first race I have entered since my own treatment ended for Stage III breast cancer in July 2011. I promised myself I would run this race for me, but when I learned of Cyndy's diagnosis . . . I knew I had to run it for us both . . . and raise funds in support of her treatment.

I ask you to please step forward and help Cyndy navigate this long and winding road. A donation of any amount will help, and be greatly appreciated. I believe everyone should have affordable health care and with your help, Cyndy will too.

Thank you- Jane Hilton

Good News!

GOOD NEWS! Yesterday my target goal of $2000 for Running for Cyndy  was exceeded--it's at $2059! Happy dance, shout to the hills, a clink of the glass, thank you for all the support, good words, prayers, good thoughts and generosity!!!! This will really truly help make a difference. A couple of folks have mentioned to me they still want to donate---and yes, of course, that would be FANTASTIC, and really very much appreciated and helpful. The Half Marathon for Cyndy is on November 6th, and the fundraiser ends November 5th. Donations are definitely still welcome.  Every bit counts, and 100% of proceeds will help Cyndy with her surgery costs.

In love and gratitude, Jane
