Steps to recovery...

January 14th, 2011

Our dad had his first appt this week & all looks well. He will need to return for surgery in about 6-9 months like they previously thought. He will be having to go to the Dr. every 2 wks. to make sure his wounds are healing & closing well. My mom has been his "nurse" & she is very proud of the job she is doing in cleaning his wounds & so were the Dr.'s. Thank all of you for your continued support & prayers we really appreciate them. A whole new year!

We had a good new year!  We were able to spend it with our dad surrounded by family.  He is doing alot better every day that passes.  Emotionaly we all have a ways to go.  I don't think any of us have given ourselves time to really process what happpened these past weeks.  Either we were to busy doing what had to be done or now were to busy trying to get back to our normal lifes!  I'm sure this year will be a good one, no matter what happens we have our dad & that's the best we can ask for.  It looks like our fund raiser has run it's course & that's okay.  Thank you all for what you have done for us, most of all our dad!  We are very greatful to everyone for your kind words & donations.  Gratefully yours, Laura Castillo & The Castillo Family 

Finally home!

Our dad is finally home! It was an emotional moment for all of us when he walked in because he really believed he was never going to be in his house again.  Our dad has a long road to recovery ahead of him.  In about 6 to 9 months he is expected to have other surgeries, since when he left the hospital he did leave with an illeostomy bag & will have to go back to the hospital every two weeks to have his wound checked since it is an open wound.  My dad said today that all of you helping in any way you can are the real heros to him because you do it out of the goodness of your hearts & nobody makes you do it.  I think he's right, you are the real heros & I've said it before but you have no idea how your words have helped my dad in these trying moments in his life!    God Bless,  Laura Castillo

Better & better every day!

Our dad is doing alot better today he was moved to his own room now and we are hoping to go home this week...my dad personally asked me today for me to make sure that I update everyone on his status since he feels you all deserve to know since you cared enough for him when he is only a "stranger".  Tomorrow, I am planning to go and find him a recliner or comfortable chair for him to sit in when he comes home!  He is grateful to everyone & is now worried about thanking everyone personally (he really wishes he could do this!)  Again thank you all for your continued support, prayers & well wishes.                                           Also to personally email him go to    castillosjewelry@gmail.com                                                                                                        God Bless

Our dad is doing alot better today.  We were able to take our lap top in today & read to him all the well wishes & prayers he is receiving.  We notice that when we read these & the letters to him it gives him some sort of peace...Thank you all for all your encouraging words & donations for our dad!
