Please help a friend and a pet in need. All funds raised will go to E to help pay for her cat's medical expenses.

Guys, I really need your help here - or rather a dear friend and her kitty need your help. Very much out of nowhere, Kitty got very, very sick and she's currently in an emergency care veterinary clinic. Nobody knows what's wrong, only that she's very sick.

This has put my friend, E, in the terrible position that many pet owners find themselves in when their pet becomes very ill very suddenly. I'm sure many of you have experienced it. I'm also sure that many of you have been overwhelmed by the expenses, and indeed, needed help to pay those expenses. I know I have. So, this is why I'm making this page.

E...is very, very dear to me and helped me in a time of terrible personal crisis, selflessly and kindly and I would like to repay a fraction of that kindness by trying to help her now in her time of need.

If any of you can help E and her cat, please, please consider donating. It doesn't matter the amount. Anything will help.

I went ahead and upped the amount because, frankly, I know how much emergency vet bills run. Don't get scared, okay? Every little bit helps.

Again, if you can help in any way, please donate.

Hugs for Please Help The Kitty.

Update

November 28th, 2011

I am

so

sorry that this update is so long in coming.  The holidays and the accompanying family members hit me like a freight train.

That said, let me get right into it.  Frieda's feeding tube was placed and she seems to be doing better.  Last check-in with E, she was getting 8oz of food through her tube.  She's at home now with her brother Cody who missed her very much while she was away.

Okay, another order of business.  I'm bringing the goal back down to $3000 since it seems have slowed down and I know people are most likely buying gifts right now.

E and I have a discussed a tentative cut-off date of December 1st, as well.

I'm sorry this is so short, but have a picture of Cody and Frieda in a box.

Again, you've all been so wonderful and I want to thank you for everything you've done.

Drive-by Update

November 17th, 2011

Sorry, this is gonna be a short one, guys.

Basically, Frieda wound up having to go in and have the tube placed after all, which has...well, the total bill is astronomical.  E has asked me up the amount and cap it at $4000, which I am going to do as soon as I send this out.

I just wanted to give you guys a brief update.

Again, thank you so much for all you've done and are doing.  In addition to donating, (and it is okay if you can't, please don't worry) every signal boost, every good thought is important.  Thank you.

A Message and Update From E

November 16th, 2011

Frieda ate a small amount today, so I’m giving her appetite stimulants and holding off on placement of feeding tube until tomorrow. I hope we are out of the woods. We both send you all our love. I am utterly bowled over by this kindness. I want to hug and kiss each and every one of you.

Very Quick Update

November 16th, 2011

Looks like Frieda started eating a little bit again today.  Holding off on the tube until tomorrow.  Keep her and E in your thoughts and prayers to whatever deity/non-deity you believe in.

Another Update

November 16th, 2011

Apologies for being slow about getting this update out.  I was waiting to see what happened with kitty.

So, it looks like Frieda (our kitty) is going to have to have a tube placed, after all.  She got to go home briefly, but she stopped eating again.  The last update I received from E was that the vet says she needs the tube placed now.

I just want to thank everyone for all of the support, kind messages, signal boosts, and good thoughts sent E's way.  You guys are really helping.  You have no idea.  E says she wants to send a thank you note for me to post.  She's overwhelmed and scared and worried right now, so let's get behind her and try to show her all the support we can.  It doesn't need to be monetary.  Every good wish and good thought and just helping us get the word out is brilliant.

Thank you again, guys, for everything you've done and for everything you continue to do.

I will keep you updated as E keeps me updated.

All right, let's do this!

November 14th, 2011

I just received an update from E about the vet bill.  It's currently at $3300, so I've changed the amount of our goal.  Remember, even if we don't reach it, every single person who's donated, spread the word, sent good wishes, and prayed to whatever deity or non-deity you believe in has helped tremendously.

What we've already raised - and in such a short amount of time! - is beyond incredible.

Thank you, thank you, thank you again!

Now, let's get on this, guys!  :)

Amazing!

November 14th, 2011

You guys are amazing!  I am bowled over by your generosity and your kindness.  I am forwarding all of your good wishes to E.  Thank you!

We’ve officially surpassed our original goal of $1000 (by three hundred dollars as of this update) and now we’re going to aim to pay, most, if not all of the bill.  I will update the fundraiser page accordingly when E gives me an amount.

Thank you to everyone who has sent kind messages to E, who has helped spread the word, and who has donated.  Anything and everything helps.

An Update from E

November 14th, 2011

I'm really excited to bring you good news, via E:
"The kitty is off her pain meds and seems alert. Bile and clotting factors are still elevated, but she ate something today on her own. She’s been syringe fed for days, so this is a really positive sign. The doctor wants to hold off placing a feeding tube and see if she keeps eating on her own."
So, kitty is doing better!  Thank you guys so much for reblogging, retweeting, and spreading the word.  Thank you for your donations and your kindness.
And a message from E:
"Thank you to every single person who reblogged this, said a prayer to whatever power you believe in or don’t, thought good thoughts, helped with a purchase, a donation, or a kind message."

An Update on Kitty

November 13th, 2011

Just an update to let you guys know what's going on with kitty.  She's gotten a diagnosis.

Per E's own update:

"She’s got fatty liver syndrome and has been taken in for emergency care. I can’t just let her die because that would be awful and gross, but it’s costing me thousands of dollars that I don’t have. I’ve maxed out any credit I had and have tapped parentals. I’m desperate."

This is fatty liver syndrome if would like to read more about it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feline_hepatic_lipidosis

The most important part is this, though.  Fatty liver syndrome is treatable and reversible and kitty is receiving that treatment.  So, this is good news.  We know what's wrong and we know that kitty is getting help.

First, I want to thank you all so much for your generous donations.  We have raised over $250 in a little less than 24 hours.  That is incredible.  You are incredible.

I will post continuous updates as I receive them.

Again, thank you so much to every single one of you - those who have donated and those who have spread the word and those who have sent good thoughts E's way.  Even if you aren't able to donate anything, these things make all the difference.

I remember how hard it was when our cat Jasmine had the same thing a few years ago and how expensive it was to get her better. I'm glad you've had so much help and that Frieda is able to be at home to get better. I already have purchased your book, which I have yet to read more than a little of, but I already like the style, but I want to help more than just that, since I am able to. So here I am. My continued thoughts and prayers for all of you.
