Six's Cleft Palate Repair Fund has been created to repair the birth defect of our beloved kitten, Six. Please help!

Six is an 8 month old kitten who was born with a birth defect; a severe cleft palate.

cleft palate
–noun
a congenital defect of the palate in which a longitudinal fissure exists in the roof of the mouth.

Six was born to a stray cat, he was the sixth and final kitten in the litter and was the runt. He was born premature with a cleft in his palate. It does not affect his face, but it causes problems. He is not weaned and everything in his mouth goes out his nose and vice versa. It causes him to get sinus infections and upper respiratory infections often. Things can get stuck in his sinuses and recently a rubber band did which resulted in a trip to the vet, sedation, and removal.

Due to the expensive kitten milk replacer, over $130 a month, his unexpected trips to the vet, and the fact that both my parents are on disability [my dad's a heart patient], we haven't been able to save anything and have even fallen behind on our utility bills. We need your help to get this little guy fixed!

Hugs for Six's Cleft Palate Repair Fund.

We're done! Thank you!

March 1st, 2011

We've made our goal in just one week! That is so incredibly and it was almost entirely due to a single anonymous donor! I cannot thank them enough, seriously. This is so amazing. I need to talk to my household and get in touch with my vet so we can set up a plan of action!

Updates from now on will be done on Six's Facebook which is linked on his page.

Thanks guys!

Halway there!

February 27th, 2011

Hey everyone! Let's celebrate surpassing the half-way mark! Whooo!

I want to give a big huge thank you to my friend Ashley's friend who has taken up our cause and has agreed to donate the whole amount! This is incredible news and I did not think it would happen at all. It gives us a little bit more assurance that we really -can- get his repair done sooner rather than later! And before he's a year old, too! This will help so much. He wants to eat other foods so bad and just can't.

If anyone still wants to donate, we would be ecstatic. The vet's pricing is tentative and could possibly run over and if it doesn't, or if it doesn't take the full amount, all money will be used on Six. Any extra/left over money will go to buying his milk [$130 a month] any other weaning foods we might need post-op and any future vet bills like check ups. Hey, maybe we'll get really lucky and I'll have plenty enough to give him a Home Again microchip!

As for Six, he is currently watching me type this out while sitting in front of the monitor. He loves this spot and loves to try to attack the words as I type them. He is in love with chasing the cursor- Thank you for sneezing all over my screen, Six. Now I have to clean it... and now the rest of my computer desk along with it. Ohh the joy of children.

Six turns 8 1/2 Months!

February 22nd, 2011

Not sure where he got the extra two weeks since it's Tuesday the 22nd and he was born on Tuesday the 22nd in June last year, but I'm right!

Six is feeling loads better since yesterday when we had to sedate him to get a piece of rubberband out of his cleft. He's back to being his crazy little self again, the monster of the house. He's running this way and that, getting into trouble every time I look over at him, typical kitten stuff. At this very second, he's curled up on a pillow and working on sleeping! Phew!

On our first night, we received the very very generous donation of $200! Thank you so much! It was given by someone who saw one of my friends post on Facebook so please repost if you haven't already! [And even if you have!]
I've shortened the time line on when his surgery needs done because his birthday was a tentative date. The repair surgery really needs done before his first birthday!

Thanks for helping!

So don't worry about this anymore, know that you'll be taken care of, and let Ashley know your deadline so I can plan appropriately."
