The friends and colleagues of Patti are uniting to raise money to help her battle against pancreatic cancer. Please show your support!

She has been the stalwart champion for all of us: whether it has been her formulative nurturing of our preschoolers, or the source of guidance to the YWCA Princeton's Childcare programs. Personally and professionally, for decades, Patti has been the continual supply of loving and level-headed advice, tutelage and guidance.

Now she needs the support of all of us.

After almost a year of declining health and five benign cancer diagnoses, Patti finally got the news that she does indeed have cancer of the pancreas. With continued weight loss and in weakened condition Patti's body is doing its utmost to withstand the chemotherapy treatments aimed at staving off her disease.

She is tremendously grateful for all of the cards, gifts and meals she has received. Each and every one, along with your well-wishes and prayers, is helping her cope as she proceeds with this new stage of her life that is centered around getting her better from this horrible disease.

Patti's friends know that in addition to the physical and emotional stresses, there is a great financial toll this disease is taking. There are many co-pays that must be shelled out, along with portions of her medical expenses that for one reason or another are not covered by her insurance.

There are so many of you who have asked what more you can do.

Here is a way you can help Patti.

Any contribution you can make will help Patti with her medical bills. Our dream would be to collect enough donations to meet her out-of-pocket expenses. And perhaps with enough luck and love, maybe exceed that amount with funds left over for Patti to be able to treat herself to a special luxury to celebrate her recuperation, such as a massage, or a meal at her favorite restaurant.

The fundraiser "Pals of Miss Patti" has closed and Patti is supremely grateful to all of you for your extreme generosity.

She will be receiving her check in the next few weeks and it will go a long way toward covering her out-of-pocket medical expenses from last year as well as toward her deductibles of this calendar year.

As you know, she is a fighter. And she feels so fortunate to have the support of all of you who have helped her in this way with her fight.

A huge thank you to all of you who have reached for your credit card or checkbook to help with Patti's medical bills!!! As of this writing Patti has had a second procedure to remove fluid from her abdomen. A total of 20 lbs of excess fluid has been removed! A new and ongoing oral medication will hopefully reduce the buildup of fluids and prevent another surgical procedure for this. Mr. Bill is playing doctor and has been trained to administer daily shots of a blood coagulation medication to Patti. With the control of blood clotting and fluid buildup it is hopeful that Patti will regain some of her mobility. She is still plagued by sleep and hydration issues, however is doing her best to maintain her spirits. She is deeply grateful for the help with her medical bills and sincerely thanks everyone for your kindness and generousity!

Patti continues her battle with spirit and gusto. She says that it is her swollen leg that is giving her the most problem. In the morning the swelling is manageable, but after only about an hour of the day it has swollen to the point of immobility. The fluid build-up from "Preston's ugly pancreas" creates problem number two. She had 3.5 liters surgically drained last week, and almost immediately swelled up again. If her blood-work cooperates, she will have another draining (literally and figuratively) procedure tomorrow. Shots are a daily occurance, and in order to save daily trips for shots (along with the co-pay) she and Bill are exploring the possibility of Bill playing doctor and administering the shots at home. Chemo infusions, doctors visits and disease management are a full-time and exhausting job for Patti and her family. Patti is focusing every ounce of energy she has on taking care of her body and trying to stay positive. At times it is overwhelming, even for someone as upbeat at Patti. She is extremely grateful to all of you for your donations and help with so many of life's daily chores. She appreciates each thought and prayer sent her way and is doing her very best to help her body get better. Thank you to all of you!
