The family and friends Olive Rose are uniting to raise money so Olive will continue receiving the medical care she needs to thrive and grow.
In September of 2011 Olive Rose Olson entered into our lives and the hearts of many. She was born at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas. During the pregnancy we were informed that Olive's brain was not forming correctly and she was missing her Corpus Callosum. We were told that we would not know the extent of the malformation until after she was born and received an MRI. After she was born we learned that the damage to her brain was quite extensive. The MRI revealed that she has Bilateral Schizencephaly, Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum, Polymicrogyria, Aicardi Syndrome, and she is legally blind as well. Though her prognosis is poor so far Olive has beaten the odds and is still here with us today. She suffers with epillepsy and can have anywhere from 40-60 seizures a day. Olive takes 4 different medications for seizure control and will be starting a new diet for epillepsy in the coming weeks. Olive's condition has weakened her muscle tone and her mobility is severely hampered. Her head has flattened on the back/side, and she has developed Plagiocephaly and is in need of an Orthotic Helmet to help correct it. Without the helmet, her head will continue to flatten and she will have difficulty moving her head in the opposite direction, further handicapping Olive's future mobilty. Though we have good insurance Olive's medical care costs are astronomical and are growing everyday. Unfortunately our insurance will not cover the helmet and it will cost $3000. We are trying to raise enough money so we can continue to give Olive the medical care she deserves and needs. We appreciate all forms of support wether it be financial, emotional, or spiritual.

Olive update
February 25th, 2012

On Monday February 20th Olive was admitted to Trintiy Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas for dehydration and possible aspiration. On tuesday she was taken by ambulance to Cooks childrens in Fort Worth. Olive is now on a nasal feeding tube and we are awaiting surgery on Monday morning to place a g- button ( stomach feeding tube ) and she will begin the Ketogenic diet for her epillepsy. Though Olive is stable she is struggling with her epillepsy and continues to have intense hour long seizures with vomitting. If all goes well we are hoping to go home sometime next weekend so we can be with both of our kids. We want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has donated, sent prayers and well wishes to Olive and our family. We will be sending out thank you notes when we are able to get home. We are so blessed to have such great friends and family!

Olive Rose was admitted to Trinity Mother Frances Hospital this morning for dehydration and refusal to eat. She will be transferred this week to Cooks childrens in Fort Worth for surgery. Olive has lost the ability to eat orally for now and will be getting a gastro feeding tube. Please keep her in your prayers and thoughts. I would also like to add her big brother Darby to your thoughts and prayers because he has been really struggling with his sisters illness recently. Thank you everyone for being there for us during this difficult time.
This morning we received a giant blessing!!
February 18th, 2012

I got a call from a family member this morning and we were told that someone has donated enough money to cover Olive's helmet. We feel truly blessed everyone loves Olive the way we do and have shown such great support. The fundraiser will stay open for those who wish to donate to help support Olive with her medical needs. We are in the process of setting up a Medical funds account that will be used soley for Olive's medical supplies and hospital bills which grow everyday. Please pray for Olive in the coming weeks. She will be admitted into cooks childrens hospital this week to start the Ketogenic diet for her seizures and we are fearful that she will be returning with a feeding tube. She has been very lethargic and unable to eat properly in the last few days. We truly appreciate everyones generosity and love. We will keep everyone updated on Olive's condition.
