Our friend Matt Banchak (27) was heading home after an evening with friends in Old Town in Chicago when he was randomly attacked, beaten with a metal pipe and knocked out by three (3) individuals who broke his nose, cheek and jaw, in addition to stealing his belongings. When Matt came to, with no help around, he got up enough strength to walk three blocks to his friends house who then rushed him to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

After meeting with specialists, it was confirmed that Matt will have his jaw wired shut for 3-4 weeks and need up to three (3) additional surgeries. Six (6) screws and a metal plate have already been placed in his mouth to help support his jaw and they may need to stay there for the entirety of his life.

During this time, Matt has been surrounded by his family and friends and everyone including his clients at the gym are concerned for his recovery.

Please help Matt in his time of need by donating whatever you can to help alleviate some of his financial burden. On top of incurring medical fees and future dental costs to replace four (4) missing teeth, Matt will be forced to be out of work for some time.

Any money that is donated will go directly to Matt’s family so he can focus all his energy and strength on a full recovery. He is very optimistic and is looking forward to the day he can get back to work being a Personal Trainer at the FFC located at Union Station. He misses his active life style, riding his bike, interacting with friends and family and helping his clients reach their personal fitness goals.
