In early December of 2009, Juliana was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma lung cancer by her primary care doctor. On Christmas eve, her oncologist reconfirmed the initial diagnosis. At stage 4, she must now fight to eradicate this disease.

Give for hope and will to survive for Juliana

Juliana is a very caring and loving woman. Originally from the Philippines, Juliana migrated to the United States to join her husband, Monico, in 1968. This was difficult for Juliana as she had to leave their 6 children (age range 2-12 yrs old) behind. Determined to provide a better life for their children Monico and Juliana stayed focus to bringing their children to the United States. In addition to their normal work as housekeeping and maintenance at Mission Hotel, they worked nights and weekends doing contracting work for families and friends. Holding on to the dream for their children, the family was reunited in 1970.

In 2001, things changed for the worse. Monico suffered a stroke and passed away in the same year. Juliana was crushed; her grief and stress eventually lead to diabetes. Now, nine years later, she must face another obstacle: stage 4 adenocarcinoma lung cancer.

Today, February 12th, Juliana begins a cycle of chemotherapy, the first of four. Each cycle spans a total of 21 days.

The money we are trying to raise will go towards Juliana's chemotherapy. However, its impact will be much farther reaching. By raising money, we are trying to bring an overwhelming sense of hope and love into her life. With support and compassion, we hope to give her a new life by giving her the opportunity to realize her dream: explore the world. By moving to the United States, Juliana gave her family a chance to live a better life. Now as a family we would like to return the favor and give her another chance at life and have her reach her 75th birthday on June 19th.
