The family and friends of Jesse Guzman are uniting to raise money to help with the medical expenses incurred for his care.
Jesse Guzman a healthy young guy, all including our family has thought “What happened how did he get sick?” One day my brother is taking dance lessons for his best friends wedding. He caught a cold and to prevent it from spreading at his friends wedding he went to the doctors for medicine. He received cough medicine and antibiotic. He took the meds and the next day he woke up with a headache,... the following day, “eye pain” he followed up with his Dr. and after not much relief a few days later had a fever, extreme eye pain, and a headache. An ER visit was made, it led to being admitted for an overnight stay at the local hospital. He felt “better” and was in great spirits, the following day he became worse, he had “acute liver damage”, which led to being moved to the ICU unit.. that night we were informed, “that is all we can do for him, we are sorry..” and he needs a liver transplant--but it is very unlikely to get it..(healthcare ins. complications). Through prayer, he was admitted at USC Keck Hospital, and receiving the best care. Yet Jesse is battling a huge fight!! He needs YOUR PRAYER!! On arrival it seemed perfect- he was placed on a level 1 for an organ transplant..but the liver failure had done damage to his brain and kidney. He lost brain function, has little brain waves and kidney failure. The liver transplant can’t be done due to the brain not working, The prognosis is BAD, for both the brain and liver. The Dr.s are not giving up, they normally would stop but have felt the presence of prayer and believe Jesse will fight through!! Tonight we will know if Jesse has brain waves--KEEP ON PRAYING for our brother Jesse.
God’s work is a mystery, we don’t understand but We TRUST in GOD and we know God exists. Our family thanks everyone that has been praying for Jesse’s recovery, miracles are unfolding with each prayer!! We are not loosing hope and faith and ask you to not loose it too! Keep on praying for Jesse, my family, and YOURS. God is asking us to unite in prayer. Prayer Warriors KEEP the Faith!!

Update December 19 from Nancy Guzman: More tests are being done, we Trust in the Lord that he is creating his masterpiece. The Drs state his blood is not flowing in his brain and, yet their is a little bit of flow in the brain stem and a muscle reflex in a pupil. We were told last night that they don’t know when, but to be prepared for the worst. We thank you for your prayers and support. It is through the love of our community that we remain strong. The prayers are being heard, that is a fact! Thank you! ~The Guzman Family
All your prayers for the Guzman family are still needed to help them get through this difficult time, but they will also be needing our help for the medical expenses incurred for Jesse's care. Please let your donation be a Christmas gift for the Guzman family.

12/25/11 Update from Angie Guzman
December 25th, 2011

Our Family has been at Holy Family Parish for approximately 30 yrs. We feel so blessed to have Holy Family as our second home. Everyone has been awesome and no words can be found to express our constant gratitude. We truly are a Holy Family and Community. May God Bless your homes and your families. Make sure to always make time to kiss and hug your children as our family did with Jesse. No regrets or remorse on our end. We believe we gave all our love to Jesse and that we cared for Jesse with as much love as we could. He was able to graduate from Cal State Long Beach as a computer engineer last christmas, now through this experience we are certain that he was also able to demonstrate kindness to those he encountered, he loved praising God through singing with the 5:30pm choir, he was part of the HYFA. Holy Family was his playground on earth and now he is enjoying the playground in Heaven.

December 22nd, 2011

I would like to thank all of our dear friends and family for your support and prayers during the past few weeks. Last night my brother was declared brain dead and today at 11:24am my brothers heart stopped beating. Let's continue strong with our faith and trust in our Lord Jesus Christ. For it was Gods will to take my brother back to heaven. Dear Lord Jesus Christ, we thank you for the amazing grace of strength during this time of affliction. We are witness that where there is faith and prayer we can remain strong and not despair. Thank you dear Lord Jesus Christ for lending me a brother to sing, dance, and play with, and most importantly our faith. My dear brother Jesus Francisco Guzman "Jesse" may you rest in peace 12/22/2011. I love you!!!!

12/20/11 Update from Nancy Guzman
December 20th, 2011

Update: Matthew 19:26
"26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
"No let-up, No turning back in our fervent prayer for Jesse's healing
& recovery. Number of Pray-ers, our collective, firm, & strong
faith can make a miracle to happen. With the Lord, nothing is
impossible. Let's all continue storming the heavens. -Fr. Victor Pacheco
God has his unfolding miracles working on Jesse Guzman.
Science logic is being defied!!
Not one neurologist can explain how it is that my brother has began to
breathe on his own without the breathing machine--it was removed
yesterday for a period.
Their has not been a patient that has been technically brain dead that can breathe on their own in history!
Is that not a miracle within itself?
Our prayers are being heard that is a promise!!
Last night, the nurse was able to see that Jesus was down to only
needing 1 medication for blood pressure instead of 3. Is that not
another miracle?? Our prayers are being heard.
Continue to
trust in Jesus Christ and his fervent power, Christmas is about Jesus,
not about retail sales. This process has united our family to truly
understand the meaning of Christmas. It is about believing in Our Savior
Jesus Christ!
God Bless,
The Guzman Family
12/19/11 Update from Angie Guzman

Our family thanks HFYA, HFYA 5:30pm Choir and every Prayer Warrior in our Community that joined our family through Facebook to pray and support our family during this journey. It is through prayer, and our belief in Jesus and his love, that we Trust in God and accept His will. We are saddened, yet your prayers have helped us find the strength and courage to say Jesus we accept your will, as in Our Lords Prayer states, “Thy will be done”.. and it was Gods will to welcome Jesse back home to the gates of heaven ♥. Again, thank you to everyone who joined the event Prayer Warriors, and continue to support us during this time.
