This site is raising money for our father, Jaime Noris, who unfortunately has been diagnosed with a rare cancer called "Double Hit" Lymphoma.

Dad is only 59 years old and immigrated to the US with our mother over 35 years ago. They did not speak a word of english and had essentially no money, but were able to provide 3 children with wonderful lives and all the opportunities we could ask for. At times Dad worked three jobs to provide for his family, and he worked nights for 10 years so he or mom would always be home with us.

About one year ago our father was diagnosed with a Large B Cell Lymphoma. After a quick response to chemotherapy we all thought he had it beat, but he relapsed within a couple months. The reason...his cancer is a rare genetic mutation called "Double Hit" lymphoma. The prognosis is very poor for recovery from "Double Hit", but there is potential for cure in a very small number of people.

He was scheduled to undergo a stem cell transplant starting in mid November, which is a procedure that will hopefully regenerate an immune system that can fight the cancer. Unfortunately, the week before the transplant our father started complaining of terrible pain, with subsequent testing showing the cancer moved to his brain and came back in his stomach. The transplant is now on hold until they can get the new cancer cells under control, but now he will likely need two separate transplants, one using his own stem cells and the other using a donor's. Hopefully in mid January 2012.

December marks 11 months since he has been able to work. Our Mother is now taking unpaid time away for the remainder of the year in order to be with Dad during the transplant as he requires a 24 hour caregiver for several months. The goal of the donation is to help our Father focus on his new full time job of fighting cancer, instead of worrying about paying accumulating medical bills and covering expenses while he is unable to work. No donation is too small.
