We beat them on the football field. Can we beat them on the fundraising field?

 

I attended NU on a football scholarship, along with players like Nick Roach, Zak Kustok, Austin King, Damian Anderson, and Tyrell Sutton . I learned a lot about teamwork, competition, and life from playing sports, and got a great education from NU at the same time.

Now I’m leading the Cabrini Connections tutor/mentor program (http://www.cabriniconnections.net) where we connect 75-80 7th-12th grade students residing in and around the Cabrini-Green Housing community with volunteers who are alumni of NU and other universities. Our goal is for each and every one of these students to be in a career by the age of 25.

 

While we have several volunteers and board members with NU backgrounds, we also have a strong team from the University of Illinois, led by former Illini QB Kurt Kittner, and Steve Miller. NU football players compete with these guys on the football field, now we want to compete on the fund raising field!!!

 

The annual NU vs Illinois game will be November 14 this year and I’m confident that NU will pull off another win.  Leading up to this Cat's victory, I’m asking for help from fellow alumni, and fans of Northwestern, to help us win this fund raising challenge.

 

Between now and GAME DAY, Kurt Kittner and his team of Ilini will be trying to raise more dollars than me and the other NU alums who are volunteers, donors and board members at Cabrini Connections, Tutor/Mentor Connections.  I am asking fellow NU alums (or ANYBODY who believes in the cause) to show their support by not only submitting donation leading up to the BIG GAME and the NU VICTORY, but continuing to support Cabrini Connections following the game.  Through this fundraising challenge and many more, we hope that we obtain the necessary resources so our students can one day be future Northwestern University alumni.
