I am a single parent of 4 sons, 3 of which are still at home. I purchased my home almost 8 years ago. Over the past 4 years I have had some medical issues that caused me to need surgery 3 times over the last three years. My finances were in jeopardy each time but my surgery in September 2009 was the worst. I was out of work for just over 2 ½ months and have tried so hard to get caught up on my bills but it just hasn’t happened. My mortgage suffered the most. My mortgage company started foreclosure proceedings and I did everything I could to get them to work with me. I contacted several agencies to get help but didn’t qualify. I spoke to an attorney who contacted the mortgage company and they agreed to allow me to pay what I already had and they did a forbearance agreement on the past due balance. I was so thankful and felt relieved but knew I only had a short amount of time to come up with the balance or they will move forward with the foreclosure. I have also been faced with BGE turn off notices and as soon as I get one paid, I have another. Since my day job is not enough I have tried to find a part time job in the evenings and weekends but since my recovery is not 100% I am a bit limited to what I can do. I have continued to pray and keep my faith in God but I will be honest and say that my faith has wavered at times. The stress of my situation has affected me both physically and mentally as I have been having body aches and problems with bad dreams and sleeping. I feel a bit hopeless but am trying to keep my chin up. If you feel led to help me or would like to help me, I would appreciate anything you could do.
