Family, Friends and Supporters...Thank you for visiting my website!!

My name is Graham N’Cholas Curry. I am 11 years old and a 6th grader at St. Albert The Great School in Ohio. Like many kids my age, I am just beginning to understand the concept of money. My parents have so often reminded me “Money doesn’t grow on trees”. This is why I am reaching out to you to help “Change my World”.

Recently, one Sat. afternoon the mail arrived earlier than usual. It’s not often that I receive mail, but boy do I get excited when I do. In the mail that day I received a letter…actually an honor! I had been nominated to become a People to People US Student Ambassador and offered the opportunity to study and travel in Sydney, Australia this summer 2010! My mom and dad are very excited as well and continue to tell me how proud I make them.

My parents have always encouraged me to help others, and get involved and participate in my community. I am a career honor student, I open doors for others, and I help my teachers straighten up the classroom after school. I volunteer in the school cafeteria to help clean up and I am also a Safety Patrol Officer. I love helping others and always want to do more. I am sure this is a large part of my motivation to undertake this “Huge Endeavor”.

I have already read many books about Australia and began to store many facts about their history, culture, geography, politics, and more. In researching the People to People organization, I learned it was started in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. I have attached a link on this page for your viewing. There is also a video of all the places around the world my fellow Student Ambassadors have traveled and studied on this page and I hope to be a part of a video someday.

My Huge Endeavor will cost …$6500! The distance between Dayton, Ohio and Sydney Australia is approximately 9400 miles...that's .69 cents per/mile.  I have already began saving my allowance, cancelled my plans for WWE Wrestling and Star Wars Action Figures, PS3 games and Legos. I will rake leaves and shovel snow later this fall/winter for tips, help mom organize and work raffles, fish frys, door to door sales and the like.  And yes--reluctantly sell some of my beloved possessions.

Finally, thank you for helping me change my world forever. I know this opportunity will help shape the person I am to become. It will continue to build my self-confidence, establish lasting friendships and allow me a greater understanding of the Australian people and their culture.
