The family and friends of Vinny Palmieri are uniting to raise money for his journey to recovery!
11/21/2011 Update: Vinny had a successful surgery and we are all very thankful for that! Thank you all so much for your continued support and prayers. He was able to have his tumor fully removed! He is still recovering from surgery. We are also happy to have him home for thanksgiving; he almost was scheduled for chemo this week. Glad we were able to postpone that to the next week.
So what is happening next? Vinny is moving along strong and leaping over every obstacle put in front of him. The doctors are saying that they still want to do 4 more sessions of chemo (that means 12 weeks). After that, they say he may be getting some radiation. The reason this is happening is because originally, there was fluid in his lungs, which had cancerous cells. The doctors want to be absolutely positive that they get everything. Getting these chemo sessions and radiation will do that. This will mean more trips to the city, but we know he will get through it!
I will continue to update this page with his progress.
Again, Vinny's family and friends are so thankful and blessed by everyone's support.

9/29/2011 Update: Vinny is finishing his second round of chemo! Vinny and our family are very thankful for everyone's support and love. Vinny is continuing to stay strong and positive. He's had his good days and bad, but this is all part of the treatment process. He has 5 rounds of chemo left after this. He stays in the city at Sloan Kettering hospital for a week of chemo then is home for two. That is the cycle, with appointments in between. After the third round, the doctors will be able to do a scan to see how the treatments are affecting the cancer.
______________________________________
At the age of 20, Vinny has been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor, called Ewing's Sarcoma. He has been making several trips down to the city and is in the care of the Sloan Kettering center. Chemo treatments will start 9/7/11. Getting chemo causes other complications and expenses. We are hoping that the chemo will shrink the tumor and it will be able to be removed.
Money raised will go towards all kinds of expenses: medical appointments, transportation, etc. Vinny and Mom have been out of work for over a month and will be out of work at least until the whole treatment process is finished.
Thank you everyone for all of your support and prayers.
