I am a full time student and single mother of 3 who is in need of reconstructive surgery after a previous surgery left me disfigured. My fundraiser is to help me raise the money needed for the down payment on the reconstruction.
I am in need of 3 possibly 4 reconstructive surgerys to correct a major defect caused by a previous surgery I had.....
I had weigh loss surgery in 2006 and lost 125+lbs in less than a year. This left my body in utter cahos. I chose lap band over the gastric bypass surgery because I was supposed to lose the weigh slower, thus giving my body and its tissues time to adjust to the new weight. I turned out to be an exception to the rule and lost too much wight too fast, leaving my body in shambles. If I would have known then, what I know now, I would have never had that surgery and continued to try and lose some withgt on my own.
Because the big insurance companies consider this to be cosmetic they will not pay to fix the problem that was caused by a surgery they paid for me to have. Although I have constant real medical problems related to the excessive tissue left on my body, I still am just considered a purly cosmetic case and no insurance company will even entertain the idea that this is a real medical problem. Not only does my situation have physical/medical issues but major physicological issues as well. It is hard to run around and play with my children and it hinders most all physical activity. I am a young energetic woman that wants to be able to be a "normal" mother who can run and play with her children. I though that by having the weight loss surgery, I would be able to do so only to find out there is another hurddle I have to over come. The only way for the to happen is to have these surgerise that I so badly need.
The damage to my body is immense and anyone who needs to see pictures to believe that this is necessary, I will provide them on a case by case basis. I am in need of the money necessary to pay the down payment on something that will put me back in the game called life and I can start really living again. I know that those who have been in my position, either themselves or a loved one, they too wouldn't want themselves or anyone they love to end up like me.
Thank you for taking the time to hear my story and thank you for considering donating to my cause.
All my Best,
Ruth Quan
