The family and friends of Joshua Richard are uniting to raise money to help him and his family with their battle against Alport's Syndrome.
Joshua Richard, is a 31 year old male from Milton, PA. Joshua was diagnosed last year with a rare progressive genetic disease called Alport's Syndrome. This disease progressively affects the eyes, ears and kidneys in males.
Joshua currently wears hearing aids in both ears due to significant hearing loss. He also within the past year due to the progression of the disease has had his left kidney removed on 2/1/11 at John Hopkins in Baltimore, MD and currently awaits to be put on dialysis and/or receive a kidney donor. His current kidney function with one kidney is approx. 25%.
Joshua and Kristy have 3 kids. Joshua was placed off work per doctors orders and placed on a number of meds in preparation for the progression of this disease to total renal shutdown.
Their family now receives a small check each month from Prudential for Long Term Disability and from his retirement, which will soon be all soaked up. They continue to fight SSDI with the assistance of a lawyer.
They did have medical assistance but this has since been discontinued since they make a little over $900 a month with those two checks. They are now left to fend for themselves to pay for medical check ups, hospitalizations, and are having a hard time just paying day to day bills.
Any assistance to this family would be greatly appreciated during this time of life altering changes.

Joshua Richard has done so much good for others although he has been battling an illness. Without the help of the state or being able to work, the financial hardships are continuing to get harder. The money from this shoot will benefit him and his family with medical bills and travel expenses to the hospital. It will be $25 for all original images on cd. You will receive the disc as soon as the session is over.

As many of you know, I have been diagnosed with Alport's Syndrome, and my family needs YOUR help! We have set up a fundraiser page on GiveForward.org to raise money to cover related medical expenses. On February 1st, 2012 we are holding “Alport Awareness” on Facebook to raise money and awareness for Alports. For 24 hours on February 1st (which is the 1 year anniversary of Josh's left kidney removal) we’re asking everyone to update their status message to ‘HELP JOSH BEAT ALPORTS @www.giveforward.org/ IMPORTANT!! The dinner will be served from 4pm -7pm. For $8 ($4 for kids 4-12) you can enjoy an all you can eat Italian buffet of Spaghetti (meat sauce and regular), Baked Ziti, Lasagna, Salad, Apple Sauce, Bread, Drinks and Dessert.
ALL monies raised at this event go DIRECTLY to Josh and his family.
You know you have to eat that day, so why not eat for a AWESOME cause!
