Meet Faith Martin. Faith was born August 1, 2003 with:
Trisomy 18
Congenital Cardiac Disease
Diaphragmatic defect
Brittle Bone Disease
Pulmonary Hypertension
Reactive airways disease
Development Delay
Kyphoscoliosis

As you can imagine, Faith and her parents, James and Karen, need your help. Faith is a true blessing to her family, but her needs are great. It is a daily financial battle for the mere basics. James works two full time jobs and Karen works part time.

Faith was born weighing 2 lbs. 12 oz. and doctors gave her only 30 days to live. Incredibly, she just celebrated her 8th birthday. She is 4 ft. tall and weighs 52 lbs. In November of 2010, Faith had bilateral hip surgery and is not yet weight bearing.

Because Faith’s remarkable growth continues, her family is desperately in need of the basic equipment required to care for their growing daughter. Their greatest need is home modifications. Faith is on a ventilator at night and oxygen, in addition to an overnight tube feed and monitoring equipment,. There is no room left in her bedroom or bathroom to be able to use a lift, however, for her parents’ and Faith’s safety, a lift is necessary. Also, a drive-in shower with a stretcher, and transportation so Faith can go out with her family are sorely needed. These are the absolute basics, yet they are very expensive.

Every avenue of funding for these important essentials has been exhausted. The irony is, since James and Karen work so hard to provide for their family, they do not qualify for assistance to help them take care of Faith, the radiant light in their lives. A trust fund has been set up for these important home modifications for Faith’s care.

As An update Jan 2012- Faith has a fractured right femur related to her muscles being so tight and her bones being so soft. We are waiting to be scheduled for her to get botox to relax the leg muscles and she is on fosomox for her bones. Having room to use a lift in our home would be a blessing to help protect her from further injury.
