The Cook Family is raising money for their beloved Emmy's Chemo treatments, every penny raised will go towards her expenses!!

Our dog Emmy had her first mammory surgery in November of 2009. In February of 2010 more lumps came back and she had her 2nd mammory surgery in March of 2010. This past December of 2010 bigger lumps came back in the same spot for the 3rd time and a new one higher up.
She had her 3rd mammory surgery (breast cancer) on January 26th, 2011. Her biopsy results were very grim, she has a high grade adenocarcinoma mammory cancer that is very aggressive. We were referred to the VCA in Sacramento to see a dog oncologist specialist. They did an ultra sound and there was no metastisis found in any of her organs or lungs and her lymph nodes are good as well.
Emmy started chemo therapy on Friday February 4th, 2011 in Sacramento. She will have 8 chemo treatments and in between have blood work and x-rays to keep track of the cancer if and when it returns.
The chemo treatments are $410.19 for each treatment. Her surgery ten days ago cost $1758.00 and our trip on Friday was $810.00 by the time the chemo is done not counting blood work and any extra that may arise we will owe over $7,000.00. This is the only course of treatment for her to have a good quality of life. We are being hopeful that she will be a miracle dog and beat the odds and live much longer than expected, we love her so very much she is a precious part of our family and we are all truely heartbroken, we have had Emmy since she was 6 weeks old!!
We need everyones help to pay for the treatments for our dog. She is part of our family we love her dearly, she is ten years old and still so full of life and spirit, she loves to grab her toys still and so far she is doing well.
We are asking for help we don't have the money to pay for all of this without taking money out of my husband's 401k and we don't want to do that.
Any amount will help, thank you all for your time and kindness and may God bless you and your family!!!

With Much Love,
The Cook Family

4/6/2011.....Emmy's update

April 6th, 2011

We are happy to report that Emmy is doing very well with her chemo treatments. She has just completed her 5th treatment.

Her Oncologist in Sacramento Dr. Hammond wants to do x-rays of her lungs on her next visit, I understand it is routine for them to check and keep track of how the patient is doing during their treatments, she will next be doing a full ultrasound as well. This is all to make sure the cancer has not metastisized in her lungs or any other organs.  As scary as that sounds I am positive that Emmy is doing well and I am convinced that our girl will be given the cancer-free status.

We are enjoying playing tug of war with her, watching her chase the laser light, rolling over for belly rubs, and she is doing what we call her "booty dance" We know we made the right decision to put her through treatments because she is happy and playful and we are enjoying every minute of more memorys to make with her.........

Many thanks and Love to all those who have donated and who may donate in the future to help us continue to save our Emmy who deserves that chance to live many more years cancer-free.

We need many more donations to try and come as close as possible to reach our goal of $5,000.00, I have been working so hard everyday to get the word out, but what you all need to remember is that even $5.00 will help and if everyonewho views our story would donate just $5.00 we could reach our goal and even go beyond.

Keep praying and sending your good positive thoughts for our Emmy with her strength and your support we know she will beat this horrible disease.......... Love The Cook's......
