Stage 5 chronic kidney failure is also referred to as end-stage renal disease, wherein there is total or near-total loss of kidney function and patients need dialysis or transplantation to stay alive. The term "renal" refers to the kidney, so another name for kidney failure is "renal failure." Mild kidney disease is often called renal insufficiency. 

When one reaches stage 5 CKD, renal replacement therapy is required, in the form of either dialysis or a transplant.

1/5/2010 his Kidneys were functioning at 11% between the both of them.

1/13/2010 we had 5 potential donors blood typed today. Next week he will be having surgery to have a port put in for dialysis. That will take a couple months to heal before they can start dialysis so maybe by then we will have a donor match & he won't even need dialysis. Please keep him & the family in your prayers.  

1/14/2010... Just found out that all 5 donors that were tested yesterday match Elton's blood type.
