This is the Cindy Fleury Chenier Stroke Fund. Please donate to assist with medical/daily living expenses to alleviate the financial burden.
Cindy Fleury Chenier was rushed to the hospital because she was very lethargic, weak, severe migraine and a few other symptoms. The hospital kept her overnight and ran a number of tests; they found that she had suffered a stroke that they attributed to a condition called PFO, as the doctor explained in laymen's terms is a condition where you have a hole in your heart. A couple of years back the doctors found a blood clot in her lung, but did not detect the hole in her heart, this time the neurosurgeon thankfully found this and has determined that she will need surgery to close this so that it does not happen again. The doctors want to wait a couple of months though so that her body can heal from the trauma it has been through from the stroke.
Although she is stronger, Cindy is recovering in a rehabilitation facility; she currently has trouble speaking and moving her right arm, her right leg is also weak, but she is doing daily physical and speech therapy.
Cindy does not have health insurance and we don't know what the total expenses will be - but we felt we had to get something started to alleviate the stress on Cindy and her family so that she can focus all of her energy and strength on recovery! The money donated will be used to pay for medical expenses and to help with daily living expenses that are vast.
Cindy’s family have been by her side since this occurred, but for now she is not accepting visitors, we will let you know when that changes.
The family has set up a savings account with Chase bank for those that would like to mail contributions to Cindy's medical costs; otherwise, you can contribute using this site!
Your prayers and contributions are greatly appreciated!

UPDATE - June 2011

Cindy's Heart Surgery - June 1, 2011
May 24th, 2011
Cindy continues daily out-patient rehab in Atlanta. She recently made a SURPRISE appearance at the Charity golf tournament given in her honor hosted by her Atlanta friends & family: Bob Adams, Aubrey Jackson, Bill Swift, Jeremie Peterkin, Dawn Ferguson, Angel Lewis and Bridget Fleury. Cindy is truly grateful to all who organized, volunteered and supported this event. While this was a great outing for Cindy, she still suffers from migraine headaches and the potential for another stroke looms. Therefore, the doctors scheduled Cindy's heart surgery for June 1, 2011. Please keep Cindy in your prayers. Also, please forward the Give Forward link to your family and friends to consider a donation toward Cindy's daily and medical living expenses. With sincere appreciation and gratitude....Bridget
Cindy Fleury Chenier - Update Condition as of Week
March 30th, 2011
Thanks to everyone who donated to help Cindy! This past weekend I traveled to Atlanta to visit with Cindy. She is continuously progressing as she is a strong-willed, determined young lady. We TALKED constantly!!!! Her sentences may be broken; however, she is able to communicate as her selected words are becoming more pronounced daily! The best way to describe "broken sentences" would be similar to if you know a few words in Spanish...just enough to say and get by with communicating. And when you realize the person you're speaking to in your "broken Spanish" understands you...you're excited and grateful! Well, Cindy is grateful to communicate in "broken sentences" and I am grateful to understand what she is saying! Her outpatient therapy is daily. She can walk without assistance but only for a limited duration; then, she rests. While she can move her right arm, it is still very weak and she still cannot move her right hand and fingers. So I ask for continued prayers that her right arm, hands and fingers begin to make significant progress. Thanks again and again!
Cindy Fleury Chenier - Update Condition as of Week
March 22nd, 2011
First, I would like to send the Fleury & Chenier family's heartfelt THANKS for your generous donations and PRAYERS!!!!! Cindy is progressing slowly but surely. Her speech is no longer slurred and becoming more pronounced. She is able to walk gingerly and her right arm still needs stimulation. After 3 weeks of rehab, she returned home last weekend and began outpatient rehab. While she is making progress she is still in a DANGER zone. Her blood level is NOT stable; therefore, blood clots can continue to form in her lungs. Until the blood level stablizes, the heart surgery cannot occur. Yet, we are hopeful and encourage by the many stories of people who have overcome this condition. Please consider forwarding this fundrasing link to those groups, organizations, family and friends who may wish to contribute to this fund. All donations will be used to pay medical expenses and assist in daily living expenses for Cindy. Again, thanks to everyone for your generous donations and prayers!
