The Chicago Hearing was a mock congressional hearing that brought together witnesses to tell seldom-heard stories from Israel-Palestine that raised critical questions about the effects of U.S. policies in the region.

Dear Friends,

Thank you for considering a donation to the American Friends Service Committee’s Chicago Hearing project!

We had a very successful mock Congressional Hearing on Sunday, April 18 – a full house at Ida Noyes Hall and nearly 1,000 people watching the live broadcast via computers around the globe. Our witnesses from Israel, Palestine, and the US helped us explore the question: “Does US policy on Israel and Palestine Uphold our Values?”

One message we heard from viewers of the Hearing was, “The real work begins once the Hearing is over.” And we agree.

Our Chicago Hearing website (www.chicagohearing.org) has the archived video footage available from the Hearing – and hundreds of viewers are watching it online. Our fact sheets specifically produced for the Hearing are also available on the site to download and use for education and advocacy.

We are planning to produce an edited 90-minute dvd from the Hearing that will include maps and footage from Israel/Palestine to further illustrate the testimonies on property rights, freedom of movement, and military aid. We intend to share this with members of the US Congress in addition to a written summary of the Hearing.

We also will make available our resources to help others organize their own Hearings in cities throughout the U.S.

Please make a donation today to help us ensure that the Chicago Hearing really is “just the beginning.”

Your donation to the Chicago Hearing project will help us do this important follow up work – providing critical resources and reaching new audiences that will demand change in US policy to match our values of peace, equality, freedom, justice and security for all.

We appreciate your continued support.
