How to Set an Online Fundraising Goal

This week is Empowerment Week at GiveForward!

We have learned so much in the last four years about how to raise money online for a loved one and we want to share our findings with you! To do this, we composed The GiveForward Guide : A Beginner’s Guide to Online Fundraising. You can get the entire Guide free on by liking our Facebook page.  We will also be publishing tips on our blog every day this week. Let us know what you think and what has worked for you! Our first tip explains how to determine the goal of your online fundraiser.

Step One:  Think Small

The most meaningful goals are the ones with clear intentions.  Take some time to think about:

  •  What you want to happen
  • How you will define success
  • What tools you need to get there

The family & friends of Bryan wanted to help him after a motorcycle accident paralyzed him below the waist.  They set a specific goal: raising money for a new wheelchair.

Family & friends rallied around this clear goal.  They organized craft sales & bake sales & were able to explain the clear goal- a new wheel chair for Bryan.  Their efforts paid off & the group raised more than their goal!

Small, specific steps build momentum for cause. Bryan’s family & friends liked to think specifically about what their donation would purchase.  One friend donated an all-terrain wheel, another bought the seat rest! Making smaller goals allowed everyone to contribute & feel like they made a change. Learn more about Bryan & his fundraiser on his GiveForward page: http://www.giveforward.com/bryanburnettnew
