More than Just the Money – Helping Others
Hello friends, my name is Cat. I work on the Product team at GiveForward, where we try to solve people’s needs with new features on our website.
Last year, we shifted our focus from crowdfunding to a much broader platform for support. Don’t get me wrong – the money raised through GiveForward has always been important to the ever-so-deserving people and families that receive it – but we were blown away by the other kinds of support that came into focus. We want to keep helping others.
From encouraging notes, to offers of transportation, company, meals or children’s toys, handyman services and clean up crews, volunteers and donors alike stepped up to the plate when their loved ones were facing a challenge. You have amazed us with the variety of your generosity, and we’d like to help encourage that type of giving.
Over the course of the next several weeks, you’ll see us making changes to encourage as much giving as we can, in the ways that help the most. You’ll be able to ask for specific needs from your community, whether or not they can be purchased. And without giving away too much too soon, I’ll just say this: Wouldn’t it be cool if you could easily ask your friends and neighbors to shovel your snow or mow your lawn while your arm is in a cast for 6 weeks? Wouldn’t you love to be able to lend a hand to a friend in another state who’s treading water as a new parent?
If we can make it easier to ask for help, we make it easier to give, too. I like to think new features are about 2% hunch and 98% input from you: Talk to us at email@example.com, and check back in to watch the progress unfold!
