Acknowledge your Donors
As many of you know from reading Leveraging Social Media and/or from personal experience, social media can be an extremely powerful fundraising tool. This is especially true for acknowledging your donors.
As your GiveForward fundraising page starts receiving donations, you can tag each new donor and thank them through your Facebook account. Stay Classy calls this the “Tag and Thank.” I call it one of the easiest and most effective ways to increase donations and build awareness, but that name is a bit long, so we will stick with “Tag and Thank.”
Tagging and thanking provides the opportunity to publicly acknowledge your donors and say an extra Thank You. The more you say Thank You, the better. It also makes potential donors aware that their friends, family members, community members, and other individuals they know have already donated to your page. This is motivation enough to get involved!
For example, if I see that all of my friends donated to your fundraising page, I am going to be more likely to make my own contribution because I don’t want to feel left out.
To do this simply selects the ‘Share on Facebook’ option available in your GiveForward User Dashboard and type in your message. To tag someone in your post, start typing their name and then select their profile from the drop-down menu that appears (make sure to capitalize the first letter of their name). See the example provided below:
And don’t forget, time is of the essence. The sooner you say thank you the better. Aim for 48 hours or less. Happy Tagging!
