We are trying to raise money to help the Petty family in their time of need.

The Petty family is a wonderful, giving family who has been a pillar in our community. They run a family business here in Benton City and volunteer with many organizations, they are the embodiment of charity. On the evening of Monday, September 28th, 2009 Joe suffered a severe heart attack. The paramedics and the hospital did everything they could to revive him, but were unable to do so and he went into a coma.  On Monday Oct. 5th Joe moved on.  We are trying to raise money to help this generous family in their time of need. Please help us to repay them for all that they have done for us.  Joe was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew him.  Please keep Christy, Cody and Alex in your thoughts and prayers.

Here are some of the fundraisers that will be on going through out the month, and not on a specific day. They are listed in our “Events” section but I wanted people to know that they are not just a one day event.

> There will be a bake sale and "Glow for Joe" shirts for sale every Saturday at the Grid Kids Football games. The last games are Oct. 31.

> The Bears Den Pizza & Video will be donating $1 from every large pizza sold through the month of October.

> T-Shirts that glow in the dark say ``Glow For Joe`` $10.00 each. All proceeds go to the Petty Family. Contact Suzanne (509)392-3605 for your t-shirt or questions.

> The Just-A-Minit Mart next to City Hall on 9th Street are donating proceeds of $.99/cup coffee for Joe.

"I didn’t know Joe well, but it was a pleasure to see him interact with his mother, Charlene. Joe’s nature was evident in the way he cared for her. He was a strong person, with a hopeful outlook and the energy to accomplish his many interests. How wonderful that he shared his special abilities with his community. May his family and friends feel that same strength, energy, and hopefulness as they move forward."
