We are a small Cub Scout Pack out of a rural town in Georgia. We have about 20 boys and are trying DESPERATELY to raise money so we can stay in existence!
We have about 20 boys in our pack. Every year more boys show interest which means we are groiwing. For those of you not familar with scouting, Cub Scouts is the precursor to Boy Scouts. Both of these programs show our boys how to be loyal to country and self, respect for people, place, and things, pride in everything they do as the Cub Scout motto is "Do your best!', helpfulness, and how to put God first. These are all things that every parent wants to instill in every single child. Without this program in our community, we don't have anything for our younger boys.
Cub Scouts is for boys in first through fifth grades. RIght now we are about to have a few boys age out of our pack and they don't have anywhere to go to after that. We are trying to raise funds to not only help these boys now, but to get a Boy Scout Troop together so that we can continue to help them in the future.
This money will be used to help pay for these boys basic scouting needs, shirts, pants, badges, caps and the like. It will also be used to help pay for things like our Pack's Blue and Gold Banquet in February, which is not only the official Cub Scout Birthday, but the one time of year where we thank our local community for everything they have done for us. The funds will also be used to pay for materials (wood, kits, paints, nails, and tools) so that our boys can not only make the projects they should but then turn around and give back to our community by helping to improve it!
Normally, funds for each pack is on the parents with fundraisers. Due to the economy and other things, our parents are limited in what they as a single unit can do. Our county's median average income is $18,000. After bills, that doesn't leave much to play with. As a whole, and by reaching out to our entire nation I am positive that we can reach our dreams! All it will take on your part is to donate your pocket change. Just that little bit from you can mean a WHOLE WORLD OF DIFFERENCE to 20 boys! I imagine that would kind of make you, our facelss benefactors, a hero of sorts! And believe me when I tell you that even if our boys don't understand, that we as parents do, and we want to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of our hearts!!!
Hugs for Cub Scouts Pack 111 GA.
