\"Help for Bridgey\" has been set up to aide my 24 year old niece with her fight against ovarian cancer, assist her with her higher educational pursuits, and raise awareness for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.

Bridgey is a fun loving, animal rescuing, aspiring artist (I have included some of her portfolio with the photos), who's dreams of completing her secondary education have been stalled by a diagnosis of ovarian cancer.  Upon completion of her Associates degree, she was accepted into the Fine Arts program of the State University, where she was to complete the required credits on the road to her Bachelors.   Having been in ill health for 8 months prior, she was finally rushed to the hospital emergency room this past January, where she was poked and prodded, only to be released with no diagnosis.  For the following 6 months, and after having multiple tests and various specialists' consultations,  it was finally decided that there was a growth present that needed to be removed.  Bridgey had surgery in June, when a mass the size of a grapefruit was removed, along with one of her ovaries.  The surgeons decided to stop the surgery at that point, in order to get a clearer understanding of what it was that they were tackling.  This required the sampling of surrounding tissues, and another wait for the pathology reports.   Once the reports were in and read, additional consultations occurred, and it was decided that the best avenue to take (in order for Bridgey to have the highest chance of good health) would have to be a total hysterectomy.  Aftercare treatment will only be identified once additional tissue samples are taken.

It is our hope, that the funds raised through this site, will not only help in offsetting the cost of the extreme medical bills that have been steadily rising, but also, to go towards the completion of her undergraduate education as well as the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, who's mission is to fund research to find a method of early detection and ultimately a cure for ovarian cancer.   They help patients and their loved ones understand the disease and its treatment, and provide outreach programs to raise public awareness.

As a bonus, Tee Shirts designed by Olive Branch Papery are being sold for cancer awareness, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Hope for Bridgey Fund.  A link to the site has been provided.
